I’m Samantha. I’m the owner a spoiled cat, Ash.
Since birth I’ve had cerebral palsy (CP), a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. CP is caused by abnormal brain development or damage to the developing brain that affects a person’s ability to control his or her muscles. I have a master’s degree in biology. Despite my dream of becoming a doctor, I left a PhD program in physiology due to incompatibility and open hostility to my challenges despite my academic achievements.
Subsequent struggles to find employment in my field of expertise (biology, physiology, and bioinformatics)* left me frustrated in a way I’d never been before, despite living with a disability my entire life.
I started Cat Estate Plus as a creative way to generate income, of course, but mostly out of my love for cats**. Often when I’d shop for cat food, I’d add a few toys for Ash. Those toys would eventually disappear, so I’d throw a couple more in my cart the next time they needed food. You know how it goes!
